This Sunday, I'm launching our first ever Adopt A Team initiative at our church in an effort to connect our congregation with our Upward Soccer program. Here is what I have on display and some of my communication: What? An invitation for Cornerstone Groups to adopt an Upward Soccer team as a practical way to live out our mission: Notice. Name. Know. This will bridge the church and Upward community, support our coaches, and show players and families that they’re part of something bigger: Kingdom living in action. Why? Bridge Cornerstone to the Upward Community through intentional, Christ-centered presence. Support Coaches, Players, and Families in alignment with Upward at Cornerstone principles of Sport, Life, Truth. Foster Greater Church Involvement in a core ministry that impacts hundreds of families weekly. Encourages authentic relationship between the church and community. Helps coaches feel valued, supported, and not alone in their ministry. How? Provide snacks for a few practices or games (as coordinated with the coach). Get the coach a coffee or sweet treat. Notes of encouragement. Create fun game day signs. Pray for the team, coach and families. Simply be present—attend a couple of games to cheer, connect, and show that Cornerstone cares. Be Creative! There are more ways to serve and support our coaches, families and teams. Think about how you/you’re group can uniquely support your team. There will be a display on the lobby for the next few weeks that will have all our teams on a display (like an angel tree) for you to pick a team for your group. Each one has a team name, coach's contact information and a list of player's names. To complete your adoption, contact ben@cornerstonebrownsburg.com with the team you'll partner with this season. My goal is to have every team connected with a Cornerstone group or family.
