How do you handle being uncomfortable? Memorial Day my wife and I were in Texas and had to drive to the airport at 2:30 am. We woke up to a thunderstorm with lighting, thunder and rain pouring. I had to load up the car and probably was outside no more than 30 secs and I was drenched. We started our voyage of 1.5-hour drive. I was freezing being soaked and both my wife and I were extremely uneasy during the drive. We could barely see with all the rain coming down, there were patches of big puddles that caused hydroplaning and lighting and thunder the whole time. For the first time in my life I actually saw lighting hit the ground. The lighting hit just off the freeway to the right about 40 yards from us. Driving in these conditions may be the norm for some but for us we are not used to this. We do not have conditions like this in California and have yet to experience this in PA. So we were not comfortable and for a good amount of time scared. Scared of what could happen or not knowing what will happen, scared of harm caused to one of us. So because of our lack of experience in this, we were uncomfortable and scared. So we prayed through it, worship through it and kept giving it to God over and over. When we got to the airport, we just praised God for getting us there safely. On the flight home, I thought about what we just went through which led me to think about ministry and the people God puts before us. - How often are the people uncomfortable in our ministries? - How often are the people uncomfortable in their early stage of the walk with Jesus? - How often are they uncomfortable during the discipleship process? Are we supportive and respect where they are at in their process? Just as we are uncomfortable in things that are new to us, fresh to us; they are new to Christ , new to this walk with Jesus, and a whole lot of NEW happening. Understanding one is uncomfortable and might be scared helps you relate to them, show grace where needed and how you can pray for that person? How does your ministry deal with this uncomfortableness? How does your ministry handle those that are scared?
