Who influenced you? In Sports, I am some good coaches, and I had some bad coaches. Some had a positive impact on my growth in the sport and negative outside of sport. Others didn't add much to the sport but affected me outside of sport. But one coach in particular had both. My high school water polo and swim coach Murdoch Frasier. He coached me all 4 years in High school and ended up retiring a year after I graduated. This man taught me so much about the game of Water Polo and prepared me for college as an athlete. I learned just as much as much if not more outside the water. We did have a good number of conversations one on one over the years, but I really learned by watching. He carried himself with utmost respect for all. Us as players treated us all evenly and pushed us with positive rather than negative reinforcement. The opponents - whenever we would get up by 10 we wouldn't run up the score. We would work on passing and driving and then shoot with 5 or less seconds left on the clock and shoot high corner. He respected the refs and never got in a legit argument. I only heard him cuss once in four years. He also walked with humility. I learned in college (my college coach was his high school coach) that he was one of the best players in the nation back in High School and College and would have represented the National team if he had not broken his hand. He never boasted or even shared this with us. I share this with all of you as he was the first example of a Man of God that I ever had. He shared the love of Christ with me and my teammates without saying the word Jesus. I didn't realize it at the time but now that I am a Christian and in business of redeeming sports; I can reflect and in this time of reflection I have come to realize that Coach was that Christian man who influenced me then and now. Who influenced you?
