We had our opening day of baseball, flag football and cheer today and the day went well but I found out about an issue after the last game of the day for my 7th-8th grade flag football league. For context, We only have 2 teams and this is only the 2nd season we've had it but both seasons I've had one clear dominant team that gets bored with the games and on the flip-side of the coin the other team gets discouraged. I have 7 more times these teams have to play each other and I'm trying to keep the feelings about the young season positive for both teams but parents are already acting like they want to quit from both teams. Any suggestions for how to keep them engaged and salvage this situation would be greatly appreciated! I already thought of basically scrimmaging each week and letting the teams be divided up randomly each week but beyond that I don't know what else to do.
